7 Days – 6 Nights
There’s no time like vacation time. Spend it well!
One week in Durango will fly by…most people who spend a week here, end up at a local realtors office searching for their second home or retirement place! And we welcome you. We love it here and we know you will to. We’ve asked a few locals what they have their long-staying guests do when they arrive and here’s some ideas for you to consider.
DAY ONE: Arrive at The Strater Hotel, check in, have us bring your luggage to your room and you head immediately to The Diamond Belle Saloon or The Office Spiritorium for a creative cocktail, glass of wine or local beer. Unwind, relax and review our dinner menu at The Mahogany Grille and let our chef’s creations satisfy your pallet. SLEEP well because the morning you’ll be heading out!
DAY TWO: Take a journey on the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Train to and from Durango to amazing Cascade Canyon. You will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of beautiful Colorado covered in a blanket of snow. You’ll be back in the later afternoon, in time to unwind in your Strater guestroom. Enjoy live music in our bars or others in Durango that evening – talk to the locals. We love to share what we love most about our town.
DAY THREE: Strap on your boots, grab your skis or snowboard and get ready to hit the slopes! Purgatory resort will never fail to please anyone. No matter your age or skill level there is something for everyone at Purgatory. Don’t have boots or skis? We have plenty of ski rentals in town, give us a call and we will help you out.
DAY FOUR: You can never go wrong with taking a day to just explore Downtown Durango. There are so many unique local shops, awesome places to eat and plenty of places to sneak in to warm up and take a look around.
DAY FIVE: Didn’t get enough skiing the first time around? Visit the famous Mesa Verde National Park for cross country skiing or snowshoeing that is sure to please. There are groomed trails for those who want the classic experience and also back country trails for those who seek more adventure. They truly have something for everyone.
DAY SIX: Looking for a true western experience? Get in a sleigh and let the horses take the reins. Head up to Rapp Coral and enjoy a relaxing day in a sleigh. Be sure to dress warm!
DAY SEVEN: You’ll be checking out today, but you can store your luggage with us… or maybe you won’t check out today and decide to stay a bit longer. Overall, you will want today to rest and reflect on your stay with us. Start you day in Durango with a hearty breakfast in the Mahogany Grille before you head out.
