This is the real deal folks. Once home to the Strater-Thorpe Drugstore, The Diamond Belle was restored to its saloon greatness in 1957 when Earl Barker Jr. decided to “ask forgiveness instead of permission” of his father Earl Sr. The decision was immediately successful and the saloon was full! There’s a lot of history in these walls (and ceilings). Come and “Belly Up” to The Belle. If you’re a history buff, download a quick read of The Strater and The Belle history — enjoy.

There’s not only a lot to do in Durango and the Southwest, but right here at The Strater Hotel! Every evening The Diamond Belle and The Office Spiritorium feature local talents on the guitar, keyboards, and mic. These are probably the most unique places to enjoy live music in the southwest!

WORLD FAMOUS TALENT ON THE KEYS

RAGTIME PIANO

The Strater Experience wouldn’t be complete without some time spent listening to the talented Ragtime Pianists of The Belle. One time an artist in residence paid his hotel bill with 2 oil paintings. One of the paintings sits above the piano and depicts Evelyn, who was one of the early Saloon Girls. Enjoy a glimpse of Evelyn while you watch the master fingers of our Ragtime Pianists and hear the sound of music as those piano keys dance.
