During our 2012 Open House we launched our Rooms Dedication Project by announcing the first of our dedicated rooms. Dedications include Louis and Kathy L'Amour, Joseph A Walker (first Secret Service Agent shot an killed in the line of duty), Charlie Schumacher, the Kroegar family, Olga Schaaf Little, The Strater family, and The First National Bank of Durango. We dedicated an additional elevevn rooms in 2013 that include President Gerald Ford and Will Rogers. Please click here for more information about the Rooms Dedication project. Strater Hotel History Tours
The Strater Hotel offers daily hotel history tours at 12:30 and 1:30. Learn about the history of the Strater Hotel, the Diamond Belle Saloon, The Office Spiritorium, Mahogany Grille, and Henry Strater Theatre. Why was the Secret Service here in 1907? Who was Gustof Nordenskjold? We look forward to taking you back in time on the incredible journey through the Historic Strater Hotel! Learn about these incredible people and their contributions to our hotel, community and country. Adults are $9 and children under 12 are $5. Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides
San Juan Sky Outfitters offers horse-drawn carriage rides through downtown Durango's historic business and residential area. This 25-minute ride provides a unique way to tour the local area while enjoying a taste of the old west. Tickets may be purchased at the Strater Hotel front desk.
Diamond Belle Saloon Gun Fights
Please join us at the Diamond Belle Saloon for an old west gun fight between some hyped up and rugged cowboys. Gun fights take place from June thru October starting at 7:00 p.m. sharp every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
