One of National Geographic’s Top U.S.A. Places to Experience

The world-renowned Henry Strater Theatre is one of the oldest and most prestigious continually running theatres in Colorado and the United States, offering more than 50 years of performances. Originally the Weinland Automobile Garage, the Henry Strater Theatre first opened in 1962 as the Diamond Circle Theatre. In 2008 the Strater Hotel renamed the theatre to Henry Strater Theatre. It received an extensive facelift including improved stage lighting and sound equipment, making it a perfect setting for concerts, comedy shows, and other live performances.

Open Year-Round

The theatre is open year-round offering a variety of entertainment, and is a great venue for weddings, parties, and meetings. Throughout the year a variety of bands and musicians from around the nation rock the stage and comedians bring their humor for our Comedy Nights at the Strater Hotel series. Rocky Horror Show – Live On Stage has become a mainstay of Durango every Halloween and during the summer months the Henry Strater Theatre is home to the Durango Melodrama & Vaudeville. For a full list of current events and performances please visit the Henry Strater Theatre website.

If you would like to book an event at the theatre (wedding, meeting, conference, or other) please contact.

The-Black-Lillies-2017-3

Presented by KSUT and Henry Strater Theatre The Black Lillies are a band for the ages: rich, rootsy tunes performed with as much heart as technical virtuosity. If you ask them, they’ll tell you they play “Tennessee music” – combining strains of swampy Memphis soul and blues with Nashville’s classic country and East Tennessee’s traditional Appalachian style – while Rolling Stone describes it as “country music with a soul-rock infusion, supported by bandleader Cruz Contreras’ smart songwriting and tight musicianship.”…
